GM Recap 9/19: Directing

Hi Everyone!

Last night was what felt like our first “normal” general meeting after all of the craziness that has ensued over the past three weeks. It was over one thing and one thing only: directing.

President Robert Tagliaferro led a discussion over the topic of directing, more specifically the idea that all creative ideas need to be justified. Members discussed their own projects and how they felt they were the right person to direct as well as ideas behind their vision for their respective projects.

You can find the PowerPoint from last night HERE (note: much of the information and lesson was given verbally, this was mainly used as an entertaining visual reference).

The films we watched are linked below.

Interesting Ball – A red ball bounces past a cafe and a couple folks’ houses and then goes to the beach.
Clown Face – Michael’s mid-life crisis was a flame out. Lonely and looking to make amends, he’s seeking forgiveness and counsel from his angry daughter.
Party Animal – Chris wakes up after a wild night and finds out that his life is in ruins.

And the film we did not have time for: Trespass – A woman walking her dog alone in the bush has a strange encounter.
